In the Presbyterian Church in America there are there are two ordained offices within the church.  These offices are: Elder and Deacon.  There are two types of Elders in the PCA: Ruling Elders and Teaching Elders.  Teaching Elders are Pastors and Ruling Elders and lay leaders elected by the church members to govern the congregation.  When Elders are actively serving as a body it is called a Session.

The Deacons are those who both steward the finances and lead the congregation in mercy ministry.  Deacons are also elected to serve by the congregation.  When they are actively serving as a body it is called the Diaconate.

In addition to these offices many PCA churches also have support staff in order to carry out the day to day functions of the church.
