Brian and Connie Shepson

Brian and Connie Shepson live in Nampa, ID where Brian is a flight instructor for MAF.

Children: Stephanie and Steven

Brian and Connie now live in Nampa, ID where he serves as a flight instructor for the Training Department at MAF headquarters. They joined MAF in 1986 and served in Central (Costa Rica) and South America (Ecuador) for 12 years before moving to Redlands. Their ministry their involved flying to remote jungle villages and conducting church services; working with the local leaders and encouraging and edifying the believers; and carrying missionaries, national pastors, evangelists, medical teams, and supplies. At Redlands, Brian evaluates new MAF hopefuls, trains newly accepted pilots, and travels the world over checking MAF pilots. Connie works part time as the Teacher Recruiter for MAF.

MAF was founded just after WWII to facilitate the spreading of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in difficult areas of the world. More than 50 years later, MAF is still on the leading edge of pioneer works in all corners of the globe.

The aircraft provides a vital supply line and safety link to the "outside" world in many underdeveloped areas. Our staff members are often the cup of cold water and breath of encouragement that is so often needed by nationals and missionaries alike. Emergency medical evacuations are quite routine in most of our programs. With the planes and communications services, MAF can multiply the effectiveness of the Church in all of its methods of outreach.

Evangelism, discipleship, and care for physical needs are all accomplished with the help of MAF technology.

Brian, a son of a pastor, was born in New York and reared in Minnesota. He said his spiritual life began at age 5. Brian said that at age 7 a missionary pilot happened to stay in his family's home and Brian was so impressed with this unique way to combine missions and aviation that from that time on he wanted to be a missionary pilot/mechanic. He was trained at St. Paul Bible College and Moody Bible Institute. Connie (Evans) came to Christ as a teenager. She is a native of Chattanooga and also attended Moody.

After concluding deputation in 1986 and language school in Costa Rica in 1987, they began their ministry in Ecuador.

As an indispensable part of this team, Connie was responsible for maintaining radio contact with Brian, taking orders and purchasing supplies for other missionaries, bookkeeping, and entertaining many who passed through the base.

The Shepsons are even more convinced of the effectiveness of MAF now than they were when they joined over 15 years ago. God continues to lead into new and exciting fields even as the work proceeds in old programs. Thank you all for your support of our ministry. We count it a privilege to be part of your world-wide efforts to proclaim the Good News to every tribe and every nation.

Their daughter Stephanie has signed on for her third year as a music teacher at Cypress Christian School in Houston. She is looking into the possibility of a missions trip over the summer. Their son Steven graduates from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology as a Mechanical Engineer in May! He will have an Aerospace Emphasis and a Spanish minor. He is currently looking for a job.
