Biographical Sketch
Dan was born in Brazil of missionary parents. Even before coming to faith in Christ when he was eight, he had a desire to serve the Lord in the ministry. His educational formation includes Covenant College (1977), International School of Theology and an M.Div degree from Reformed Theological Seminary (1985). He met Iara on a vacation to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil while in seminary. They served for eight years (1986-1995) in Quito, Ecuador with Mission to the World as church planters. Upon completion of their ministry there, they were invited to Fourth Presbyterian Church, Bethesda, MD where Dan was the Pastor of Missions and Evangelism for four years (1995-1999). They accepted a call to Rome, Italy where they have served since April 2002 as church planters.
Iara comes from a Christian family in Brazil where she came to faith in Christ at an early age. Following her degree at the University of Rio de Janeiro (1981), she worked as editor of a medical journal for the Brazilian College of Surgeons (1979-1984). For years she desired to serve the Lord as a pastor's or missionary wife. Shortly after praying specifically for an American missionary husband, she met Dan (1984) at the Copacabana Presbyterian Church. They have a son, Daniel who was born in Quito, Ecuador, November 1987. His hobbies include: soccer with city team, golf and riding his motorcycle (14 year olds can drive motorcycles on the street in Italy)
