Passage: Ephesians 6:21-24

Preacher: Bill Massey

Series: God's New Community

Category: Sunday Morning

Detail:

Sermon Intro: The English word “encourage” is translated from the Greek term parakaleo. Parakaleo is a favorite word of Paul’s. You find it frequently in Paul’s New Testament letters. The word means encouragement, consolation, and comfort. Parakaleo makes us think of Paraclete, the name Jesus gave to the Holy Spirit who is the Divine encourager, consoler, and comforter of God’s children. Putting it all together, we can say this: we experience the comfort of God, in part, through the encouragement we give and receive within God’s worshiping and fellowshipping community.

  1. Tychicus: the giver of encouragement.
  2. Paul: the recipient of encouragement.
  3. Peace, love, grace: the blessings of encouragement.
